Outgrowing
Outgrowing is about what happens when you stop holding back and the horizon of possibilities is open. Deep water on one side, open light on the other, and everything still possible in between.
It is the largest work I have made, shaped from folded textile across one and a half metres. Deep forest green and petrol gather at the left like water you cannot see the bottom of, then give way to turquoise, cream, beige and warm earthy brown, with light opening outward near the right like something breaking through.
The colours come from the two places that feel like a breath of fresh air in my head, the sea and the woods. The folds catch the light differently through the day, so it is never quite the same twice.
Outgrowing was made as a reminder not to limit yourself by thinking small, and to let yourself be everything you ever wanted.
